159 Snapchat Statistics for 2026

Snapchat averaged 495 million daily active users and 977 million monthly active users worldwide in the third quarter of 2026, by Snap's own count. Snap made $5.931 billion of revenue in 2025, and in the third quarter of 2026 it turned a net profit. Snap has more than 30 million paid subscribers.

This page gathers the latest Snapchat figures in one place: daily and monthly users by region, revenue, revenue per user, profit and loss, Snapchat+ and other subscriptions, Spotlight, Lenses and Snap Map, who uses Snapchat in the US, Sweden and Australia, Australia's under-16 rule, EU users, safety enforcement, government requests and the 2017 IPO. Every number links to the company, regulator or research body that published it, with the date.

Snapchat numbers are easy to mix up. Snap's daily and monthly active users are its own counts, worldwide. Its EU figure under the Digital Services Act uses a different definition and covers the EU only. Ad reach counts users advertisers can target, not unique people. Surveys report the share of people who say they use Snapchat. From 2027 Snap will report monthly users as its main audience number and stop giving daily users by region. Each figure here says what it measures, and figures on different bases are not compared.

How many people use Snapchat every day?

Snapchat's daily audience has grown in almost every quarter since the 2017 IPO. It paused twice: in 2018, and at the end of 2025, when Snap cut its spending on marketing to win new users.

Daily active users are Snap's own count of registered, logged-in users who open Snapchat on a given day, averaged over the quarter, worldwide. Snap has widened the definition since the IPO, and from the first quarter of 2025 it refined how it records delayed user activity, so it says figures "may not be directly comparable" with earlier periods.

Where do Snapchat's daily users live?

Most of Snapchat's daily users now live outside North America and Europe. North America has shrunk since 2024 and Europe has been flat, while Snap's Rest of World region keeps growing.

  2. 2 Europe 98m

Regions are Snap's own. Its Europe region includes non-EU countries such as the UK, and Rest of World is everything outside North America and Europe. Snap's Europe daily users are not the same measure as its EU monthly active recipients under the Digital Services Act and are not compared with them.

How many monthly users does Snapchat have, and what changes in 2027?

Snap counts close to a billion monthly users and has set itself a goal of 1 billion. From 2027 monthly users will be its main audience number, and it will stop giving daily users by region.

  • Beginning with its quarterly report for the first quarter of 2027, Snap plans to make global monthly users its primary audience metric, replacing global daily users and dropping regional daily users and regional revenue per user. (Snap Inc. (Q3 2026 results release), Nov 2026)
  • From 2027 Snap will count monthly users from activity in the last 30 days of the quarter; it says the change would have moved its historical monthly user figures by less than 1%. (Snap Inc. (Q3 2026 results release), Nov 2026)
  • Snap gave its reason in the release: "While DAU remains an important measure of engagement, we no longer believe it is the best primary measure of long-term value." (Snap Inc. (Q3 2026 results release), Nov 2026)

Monthly active users are Snap's own average of users active in the 30 days to each month-end in the quarter, worldwide. From 2027 Snap will measure the last 30 days of the quarter and will define revenue per user as quarterly revenue divided by global monthly users, so figures from 2027 on are not comparable with the daily-user series on this page.

How many people can Snapchat ads reach?

Snap's advertising tools show how many users ads can reach, which Kepios compiles each month. This ad reach is lower than Snap's monthly user count and measured differently, so it is not a count of users. India has the largest ad audience, well ahead of the US.

Ad reach comes from Snap's self-service advertising tools as compiled by Kepios, which warns that ad reach figures are not a direct proxy for a platform's user base. It is not compared with Snap's daily or monthly active users, its EU figures or survey shares.

How much revenue does Snap make?

Snap's revenue has grown in every year since its IPO apart from 2023, when it was flat. Advertising still brings in most of it, but subscriptions make up a growing share, and North America brings in the largest part.

Does Snap make a profit?

Snap has made a net loss in every full year since its IPO, but losses have narrowed since 2022. It has made a profit in some fourth quarters and in the third quarter of 2026, and it has cut staff in 2026.

Who uses Snapchat?

Snapchat is a young people's app. About a quarter of US adults use it, a share that has barely moved since 2018, but more than half of those under 30 do. In Sweden half of children and young people aged 8-19 use it every day.

  1. 1 Ages 18-29 56%
  2. 2 Ages 30-49 33%
  3. 3 Ages 50-64 13%
  4. 4 Ages 65+ 4%

Pew surveys US adults aged 18 and over and, separately, 1,458 US teens aged 13-17; shares of all teens and of teen Snapchat users have different bases. Internetstiftelsen surveys Swedish internet users aged 8 and over and ACMA Australian adults. These are survey shares and are not compared with each other or with Snap's own user counts.

How has Australia's under-16 rule affected Snapchat?

Australia's law requiring social media users to be at least 16 took effect on 10 December 2025, and Snap has locked or removed hundreds of thousands of Australian accounts since. A parents' survey for the eSafety Commissioner found most children who had a Snapchat account still had one weeks later.

  1. 1 Snapchat 69.4%
  2. 2 TikTok 69.3%
  3. 3 Instagram 69.1%
  4. 4 Facebook 63.6%
  5. 5 YouTube 48.5%
Share of Australian children aged 8-15 with an account on each platform before 10 December 2025 who still had one in January and February 2026, as reported by parents to eSafety. (eSafety Commissioner (compliance update), Mar 2026)
  • Snap said in November 2025 that from 10 December 2025 it would take steps to lock the accounts of users in Australia under 16. (Snap Inc. (newsroom, Nov 2025), Nov 2025)
  • Snap said it removed approximately 400,000 accounts in the fourth quarter of 2025 after bringing in platform-level age verification in Australia. (Snap Inc. (Q4 2025 investor letter), Feb 2026)
  • Snap says over 75% of time spent on Snapchat in Australia is messaging with close friends and family. (Snap Inc. (Australia minimum age post), Feb 2026)
  • Of Australian children aged 8-15 who had a Snapchat account before the rule took effect, 69.4% still had one between 19 January and 2 February 2026, in eSafety's survey of 898 parents and carers. (eSafety Commissioner (compliance update), Mar 2026)
  • In a survey Snap commissioned from YouGov of 500 Australian parents of teens aged 13-17, run 13-19 February 2026, 73% supported the under-16 restrictions but only 11% said the policy is "definitely" achieving its goals, and 22% said their teen had already found ways onto restricted platforms. (Snap Inc. (YouGov survey for Snap), 2026)

Snap's account counts are its own claims, each with its own date, and are not added together. The eSafety figures come from a survey of parents and carers. The YouGov survey was paid for by Snap, which says it complied with the law "nonetheless"; its margin of error is about 4.5 points.

How many people use Snapchat in the EU?

Snapchat reaches close to 100 million people a month in the EU, by Snap's own count under the Digital Services Act. France had 28.8 million of them in the first half of 2026, more than Germany.

  1. 1 France 28.8m
  2. 2 Germany 19.5m
  3. 3 Netherlands 7.1m

These are Snap's own EU-only figures under the Digital Services Act: registered users who opened the app at least once in a month, averaged over the period. Snap says its method has changed over time and the figures are not intended to be compared between periods, so each is given with its own date and no trend is drawn. They are not compared with Snap's Europe daily users, which cover a wider region and a different measure.

How much content does Snap act on?

Snap acts against millions of pieces of content and accounts every six months, most often for sexual content, and its enforcement counts have risen in each half-year since early 2025. Snap estimates that only a tiny share of views contain content that breaks its rules.

  1. 1 Sexual content 7,985,215
  2. 2 Child sexual exploitation 1,457,878
  3. 3 Drugs 1,298,054
  4. 4 Harassment and bullying 553,294

  • Snap received 26,520,872 user reports of Community Guidelines violations in the first half of 2026 and took 8,019,172 enforcement actions in response, with a median turnaround of about 1 minute. (Snap Inc. (Transparency Report H1 2026), Oct 2026)
  • Separately, Snap detected and enforced 5,160,997 violations on its own initiative in the first half of 2026. (Snap Inc. (Transparency Report H1 2026), Oct 2026)
  • Snap's violative view rate was about 0.02% in the first half of 2026: about 2 of every 10,000 Snap and Story views contained content that broke its rules. (Snap Inc. (Transparency Report H1 2026), Oct 2026)
  • In the first half of 2026 Snap enforced against 2,019,092 pieces of child sexual exploitation and abuse content, disabled 270,049 accounts and made 431,830 reports to NCMEC. (Snap Inc. (Transparency Report H1 2026), Oct 2026)
  • In the second half of 2025 Snap took 10,468,568 enforcement actions against 6,324,545 unique accounts, and its violative view rate was about 0.01%. (Snap Inc. (Transparency Report H2 2025), Jun 2026)
  • In the same period it enforced against 1,644,877 pieces of child sexual exploitation and abuse content, disabled 245,643 accounts and made 397,402 reports to NCMEC. (Snap Inc. (Transparency Report H2 2025), Jun 2026)
  • In the first half of 2025 Snap took 9,674,414 enforcement actions against 5,794,201 unique accounts, with a violative view rate of 0.01%. (Snap Inc. (Transparency Report H1 2025), Dec 2025)

All figures are Snap's own counts under its own rules, worldwide. Rising counts can reflect changes in detection as well as in volume. Snap restated some first-half 2025 child safety figures in May 2026, so they are not given here, and reports before 2025 use different tables and methods and are not compared.

How often do governments ask Snap for user data?

US police and courts send Snap tens of thousands of requests for user data every six months, mostly search warrants, and Snap hands over some data in most cases. Outside the US, the UK, France and Germany send the most.

  1. 1 United Kingdom 12,788
  2. 2 France 10,402
  3. 3 Germany 7,279
  4. 4 Sweden 2,834
  5. 5 India 2,713
Other information requests to Snap from governments outside the US, January to June 2026, selected countries. Emergency disclosure requests are counted separately. (Snap Inc. (Government Requests H1 2026), 2026)
  • The US requests in the first half of 2026 covered 53,462 accounts, and Snap produced some data for 84.6% of them; search warrants were the largest type, at 16,838, and subpoenas numbered 6,508. (Snap Inc. (Government Requests H1 2026), 2026)
  • The US total included 3,222 emergency disclosure requests, for 68.2% of which Snap produced some data. (Snap Inc. (Government Requests H1 2026), 2026)
  • Outside the US, the UK also sent 2,983 emergency disclosure requests in the first half of 2026, Germany 1,561, France 1,490, Sweden 1,054 and India 551. (Snap Inc. (Government Requests H1 2026), 2026)
  • Snap received 8 government orders to remove content or accounts that did not otherwise break its rules in the first half of 2026, and none led to removal. (Snap Inc. (Government Requests H1 2026), 2026)
  • Snap received 250-499 US national security requests in the first half of 2026, covering 1,500-1,749 account identifiers; these can only be reported in bands. (Snap Inc. (Government Requests H1 2026), 2026)

All figures are Snap's own. Snap says that from 1 April 2026 it changed how it counts certain requests with several parts, so the first half of 2026 is not compared with earlier periods. US national security requests are disclosed only in bands of 250.

When did Snap go public?

Snap listed on the New York Stock Exchange in March 2017. Snapchat's daily audience is now about three times its size at the IPO, calculated from Snap's figures.

  • Snap sold 200,000,000 Class A shares in its initial public offering at $17.00 per share, listing on the New York Stock Exchange as "SNAP"; the prospectus is dated 1 March 2017. (Snap Inc. (IPO prospectus, Form 424B4), Mar 2017)
  • The Class A shares sold in the IPO carry no voting rights. (Snap Inc. (IPO prospectus, Form 424B4), Mar 2017)
  • At the IPO Snap said 158 million people used Snapchat daily on average, over 2.5 billion Snaps were created every day, daily users visited Snapchat more than 18 times a day, and its community spent an average of 25 to 30 minutes on Snapchat every day. (Snap Inc. (IPO prospectus, Form 424B4), Mar 2017)
  • In its first quarter as a public company Snap made revenue of $149.6 million and a net loss of $2.21 billion, which included $2.0 billion of stock-based compensation recognised when its IPO registration became effective. (Snap Inc. (Q1 2017 results release), May 2017)

IPO figures come from Snap's final prospectus filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Engagement figures at the IPO are Snap's own claims for the fourth quarter of 2016 and Snap does not state its method, so they are not compared with later claims.

Methodology and sources

Figures come from Snap's own quarterly results releases, investor letters, SEC filings, transparency reports and EU DSA reports, from survey researchers (Pew Research Center, the Swedish Internet Foundation, ACMA and Australia's eSafety Commissioner) and from Kepios. Each figure links to the body that published it, with the date. Snap's user and revenue figures are company-reported and are not independently audited; company claims are dated and kept in Snap's wording. Snap's daily and monthly users, its EU monthly active recipients, ad reach and survey shares are kept apart and never added together or compared. Subscriber counts for Snapchat+ alone and for all subscription products are labelled and not charted together. Figures we calculated from Snap's numbers say so. The page is reviewed monthly and the date is shown at the top.
