156 Pinterest Statistics for 2026

Pinterest had 661 million monthly active users worldwide in the third quarter of 2026, a record, and made $4,222 million in revenue in 2025, almost all of it from advertising. Most of its users now live outside the US and Canada, but users in the US and Canada still bring in most of the money.

This page gathers the latest Pinterest figures in one place: users worldwide and by region, revenue, revenue per user, profit, what Pinterest says about Gen Z and women, ads, surveys from the US, Sweden and Australia, EU user counts, search and shopping claims, content removed, government requests, the 2019 IPO and staff numbers. Every number links to the filing, report or survey that published it, with the date.

Pinterest numbers are easy to mix up. Its monthly active users are its own count of logged-in users worldwide. Its EU figures under the Digital Services Act are six-month averages for the EU only. Pew and other surveys report the share of adults or internet users who say they use it. Each figure here says what it measures, and figures on different bases are not compared.

How many people use Pinterest?

Pinterest counts monthly active users (MAUs): logged-in people who visit the site, open the app or use its browser extension at least once in 30 days. The count rose fast during the pandemic, fell back in 2021, stayed lower through 2022, and has set a new record in every quarter since the third quarter of 2023.

MAUs are Pinterest's own count of logged-in users worldwide at the end of each quarter; logged-out visitors are not counted. Its IPO prospectus said the metric had not been validated by an independent third party. MAUs are not compared with the EU six-month averages or with survey shares further down.

Where do Pinterest users live?

Most Pinterest users live outside the US and Canada, and most of its recent growth has come from the region it calls Rest of World. Users in the US and Canada have grown slowly since 2022, and Europe faster.

  • MAUs in the US and Canada fell to 92 million in the second quarter of 2022, down 8%, and Europe to 117 million, down 4%. (Pinterest (Q2 2022 results), Aug 2022)
  • When it moved to three regions in 2022, Pinterest restated its first quarter of 2021 as 109 million MAUs in the US and Canada, 136 million in Europe and 234 million in Rest of World. (Pinterest (Q1 2022 results), Apr 2022)
  • On its old split, Pinterest had 86 million US MAUs at the end of 2021, down 12%, and 346 million international MAUs, down 4%. (Pinterest (Q4 2021 results), Feb 2022)
  • At the end of 2020 Pinterest had 98 million US MAUs, up 11%, and 361 million international MAUs, up 46%. (Pinterest (Q4 2020 letter), Feb 2021)
  • At the end of 2019 Pinterest had 88 million US MAUs, up 8%, and 247 million international MAUs, up 35%. (Pinterest (Q4 2019 letter), Feb 2020)

Until 2021 Pinterest split users into the US and International; from 2022 it reports the US and Canada, Europe and Rest of World, and it restated 2021 on the new split. Figures on the two splits are not compared or charted together. Europe here is Pinterest's own region, which is wider than the EU.

How much revenue does Pinterest make?

Pinterest makes almost all its money from advertising, and its revenue has grown every year since 2017. Growth was above 45% a year from 2019 to 2021, slowed sharply in 2022 and 2023, then picked up again in 2024. Users in the US and Canada still bring in most of the revenue.

  • Europe revenue was flat at $193 million in the third quarter of 2026. (Pinterest (Q3 2026 results), Oct 2026)
  • A year earlier, in the third quarter of 2025, Europe revenue had grown 41%. (Pinterest (Q3 2025 results), Nov 2025)
  • Forecast: on 29 October 2026 Pinterest said it expects fourth-quarter 2026 revenue of $1,425 million to $1,475 million, 8% to 12% growth. (Pinterest (Q3 2026 results), Oct 2026)

Revenue figures are Pinterest's own, worldwide, split by where users are, not where advertisers are. 2018 uses the old US and international split and is not compared with the current regions. The fourth-quarter 2026 figure is the company's own forecast, not a result.

How much does Pinterest earn per user?

Pinterest earns far more from each user in the US and Canada than anywhere else: in 2025 about 37 times as much as from a user in Rest of World, calculated from Pinterest figures. That gap is why the regions with the most users bring in the least money.

  1. 1 US and Canada $30.84
  2. 2 Worldwide $7.21
  3. 3 Europe $5.12
  4. 4 Rest of World $0.83
Pinterest annual average revenue per user in 2025, by user region, in US dollars. Annual ARPU is the sum of the four quarterly figures. (Pinterest (Q4 2025 results), Feb 2026)
  • Average revenue per user (ARPU) worldwide was $1.80 in the third quarter of 2026, up 1%; Europe ARPU fell 7% to $1.21, and Rest of World ARPU rose 9%. (Pinterest (Q3 2026 results), Oct 2026)
  • In the fourth quarter of 2025 ARPU was $2.16 worldwide, $9.41 in the US and Canada, $1.59 in Europe (up 15%) and $0.27 in Rest of World (up 42%). (Pinterest (Q4 2025 results), Feb 2026)
  • Annual ARPU worldwide was $6.94 in 2024, and $29.15 in the US and Canada. (Pinterest (Q4 2024 results), Feb 2025)
  • Annual ARPU worldwide was $6.44 in 2023, and $25.52 in the US and Canada. (Pinterest (Q4 2023 results), Feb 2024)
  • Annual ARPU worldwide was $6.36 in 2022; in the US and Canada it rose to $24.38 from $21.07 in 2021. (Pinterest (Q4 2022 results), Feb 2023)
  • Annual ARPU worldwide rose from $4.26 in 2020 to $5.79 in 2021. (Pinterest (Q4 2021 results), Feb 2022)
  • In the first quarter of 2022, the first on the three-region split, ARPU was $4.98 in the US and Canada, $0.72 in Europe and $0.08 in Rest of World. (Pinterest (Q1 2022 results), Apr 2022)
  • US ARPU was $5.94 in the fourth quarter of 2020, up 49%. (Pinterest (Q4 2020 letter), Feb 2021)
  • In the fourth quarter of 2019 ARPU was $1.22 worldwide, $4.00 in the US and $0.21 internationally. (Pinterest (Q4 2019 letter), Feb 2020)
  • For 2018, the year before its IPO, Pinterest reported ARPU of $3.14 worldwide, $9.04 in the US and $0.25 internationally. (Pinterest (IPO prospectus), Apr 2019)

ARPU is Pinterest's revenue in a period divided by its average MAUs, by where users are. Pinterest changed its regions in 2022, so US figures before 2022 are not compared with US and Canada figures after. The 37-times ratio was calculated from Pinterest's 2025 figures and is not a company number.

Is Pinterest profitable?

Pinterest made a full-year profit in only three years from 2017 to 2025: 2021, 2024 and 2025. Its 2024 profit mostly reflects a one-time tax benefit of about $1.6 billion, as its filing states, and it lost money in the first half of 2026 while it restructured.

  • Before its IPO Pinterest lost $130.0 million in 2017 and $63.0 million in 2018. (Pinterest (IPO prospectus), Apr 2019)
  • Pinterest said in May 2019 that had its IPO happened in the first quarter, "we would have recorded cumulative share-based compensation expense of $975 million". (Pinterest (Q1 2019 letter), May 2019)
  • In the second quarter of 2019, when it went public, Pinterest's net loss was $1.16 billion. (Pinterest (Q2 2019 letter), Aug 2019)
  • The net loss for 2019 was $1.36 billion, or 119% of revenue. (Pinterest (Q4 2019 letter), Feb 2020)
  • Pinterest lost $128 million in 2020 but made net income of $208 million in the fourth quarter. (Pinterest (Q4 2020 letter), Feb 2021)
  • Net income was $316 million in 2021. (Pinterest (Q4 2021 results), Feb 2022)
  • Pinterest made a net loss of $96 million in 2022. (Pinterest (Q4 2022 results), Feb 2023)
  • The net loss in the first quarter of 2023 was $209 million. (Pinterest (Q1 2023 results), Apr 2023)
  • For all of 2023 the net loss was $36 million, after net income of $201 million in the fourth quarter. (Pinterest (Q4 2023 results), Feb 2024)
  • Net income was $1,862 million in 2024, of which $1,847 million came in the fourth quarter. (Pinterest (Q4 2024 results), Feb 2025)
  • The 2024 figure includes $1,597.0 million from releasing a valuation allowance on US federal and state deferred tax assets in the fourth quarter of 2024, a one-time, non-cash tax benefit. (Pinterest (10-K for 2025), Feb 2026)
  • Net income in the fourth quarter of 2025 was $277 million, and adjusted EBITDA for 2025 was $1,270 million. (Pinterest (Q4 2025 results), Feb 2026)
  • Pinterest lost $74 million in the first quarter of 2026, including $47.1 million of restructuring charges. (Pinterest (Q1 2026 results), May 2026)
  • The net loss in the second quarter of 2026 was $47 million, with adjusted EBITDA of $311 million. (Pinterest (Q2 2026 results), Aug 2026)
  • Net income was $22 million in the third quarter of 2026, against $92 million a year earlier, and adjusted EBITDA was $339 million, a 29% margin; for the nine months to September the net loss was $98.7 million. (Pinterest (Q3 2026 results), Oct 2026)

Net income and loss are GAAP figures, worldwide. Adjusted EBITDA is a non-GAAP measure Pinterest defines itself, and is not compared with net income. The 2019 loss was driven by share-based compensation recognised at the IPO, and the 2024 profit by a one-time tax benefit, so neither year shows the underlying trend.

Who uses Pinterest, by Pinterest's own account?

Pinterest says most of its users are women and that a growing share are Gen Z. Both are company estimates with no published method, and Pinterest does not give the birth years it counts as Gen Z.

  • In its 10-K for 2023, filed in February 2024, Pinterest said "Gen Z users represent over 40% of our user base". (Pinterest (10-K for 2023), Feb 2024)
  • Its 10-K for 2024, filed in February 2025, gave the same "over 40%" for Gen Z. (Pinterest (10-K for 2024), Feb 2025)
  • Chief executive Bill Ready said in August 2025: "We're also excited that Gen Z has grown to over half of our user base." (Pinterest (Q2 2025 results), Aug 2025)
  • Pinterest says women "comprise roughly two-thirds of our total user base", in its 10-K for 2025. (Pinterest (10-K for 2025), Feb 2026)
  • Its 10-K for 2020 said "about two-thirds" of its monthly active users were female. (Pinterest (10-K for 2020), Feb 2021)
  • At its IPO, Pinterest said "two thirds" of its monthly active users were female. (Pinterest (IPO prospectus), Apr 2019)
  • In the second quarter of 2020 Pinterest said its US users under 25 grew twice as fast as users aged 25 and over. (Pinterest (Q2 2020 letter), Jul 2020)
  • In the third quarter of 2020 it said: "Particular strength came from users under the age of 25." (Pinterest (Q3 2020 letter), Oct 2020)

These are Pinterest's own statements about its user base worldwide, quoted in its own words and dated. They are not survey results and are not compared with the Pew or Swedish survey figures in the next sections.

How many ads does Pinterest show, and at what price?

Pinterest has grown revenue by showing many more ads at lower prices. The number of ads it served grew faster each year from 2023 to 2025, while the price of an ad fell in both 2023 and 2024.

How many Americans use Pinterest?

About a third of US adults say they use Pinterest, on Pew Research Center's surveys, up from about one in ten in 2012. Women are far more likely to use it than men, and Republicans and Democrats use it equally.

The trend by year comes from Pew's fact sheet, which shows one series across Pew's 2023 move from phone to online and mail surveys. How many people use Pinterest in Sweden and Australia?

National surveys put Pinterest well behind the biggest platforms. In Sweden its reach has edged down since 2021 and few people use it daily, but women and girls use it far more than men and boys. In Australia use among adults rose in 2025.

How many people use Pinterest in the EU?

Pinterest publishes its EU user numbers under the Digital Services Act, and they have grown slowly. Germany and France have the most users. These are six-month averages for the EU-27 only, not the Europe region in Pinterest's earnings.

  1. 1 Germany 15.5m
  2. 2 France 14.1m

  • Pinterest had about 83.5 million average monthly active users in the EU from January to June 2025. (Pinterest (EU DSA report H1 2025), Oct 2025)
  • In the first half of 2025 Belgium had 2.8 million, Romania 2.7 million, Portugal 2.3 million, Greece and the Czech Republic 2 million each, Hungary and Sweden 1.9 million each, Austria 1.7 million, Denmark 1.2 million and Bulgaria and Finland 1 million each; ten member states had less than 1 million. (Pinterest (EU DSA report H1 2025), Oct 2025)
  • Pinterest's median time to decide appeals made through its EU illegal content reporting form was 3.13 hours for affected users and 1.95 hours for reporters in the first half of 2025. (Pinterest (EU DSA report H1 2025), Oct 2025)
  • Pinterest received no reports from trusted flaggers in the EU in the first half of 2025. (Pinterest (EU DSA report H1 2025), Oct 2025)
  • The European Commission named Pinterest among the first 17 Very Large Online Platforms on 25 April 2023, platforms that reach at least 45 million monthly active users in the EU. (European Commission (press release IP/23/2413), Apr 2023)

DSA figures are Pinterest's own averages of logged-in monthly active users in the EU-27 over six months. They cover fewer countries than the Europe region in Pinterest's results and are averages, not quarter-end counts, so the two are not compared. Pinterest says it will publish updated EU figures in February 2027.

How do people search and shop on Pinterest?

Pinterest presents itself as a place for visual search and shopping. Its search, saving and shopping numbers are company claims, some based on old or commissioned surveys, so each is given with its date and basis.

  • In August 2025 he said Pinterest had "found our best product market fit ever by becoming a personalized shopping destination for users and an AI-powered performance platform for advertisers". (Pinterest (Q2 2025 results), Aug 2025)

All figures here are Pinterest's own claims, worldwide unless stated. "Commercial" searches are Pinterest's own category with no published definition. The shopping and beauty figures come from surveys Pinterest commissioned of narrow groups of US users, one of them from 2018. Later filings give no Pin count, so the chart stops at 2020.

How much content does Pinterest remove?

Pinterest deactivates well over 100 million Pins a quarter, mostly for adult content, and most of them have never been seen. Many are repeat saves of a few million images. Its reports to the US child safety clearinghouse jumped in 2025, partly because of an internal error.

  1. 1 Self-injury and harmful behaviour 35.4m
  2. 2 Copyright 21.4m
  3. 3 Child safety 10.1m
  4. 4 Prohibited and regulated goods 5.7m
  5. 5 Harassment and criticism 3.6m
  6. 6 Hateful activities 2.0m
Pins Pinterest deactivated worldwide in the fourth quarter of 2025, by policy, in millions, leaving out adult content, the largest category. Copyright removals fall under its intellectual property rules. (Pinterest (transparency report H2 2025), 2025)

All figures are Pinterest's own counts, worldwide. Pin counts include repeat saves of the same image, which is why Pinterest also counts distinct images. Ads and merchant rule breaches are left out of these tables. NCMEC is the US National Center for Missing and Exploited Children; Pinterest says part of the 2025 rise came from an internal error, so the half-years are not a clean trend.

How often do governments ask Pinterest to remove content or hand over data?

Governments send Pinterest thousands of requests to remove content every half-year, and Russia has overtaken South Korea as the largest sender. Requests for user data are far fewer, and most come from the US.

All figures are Pinterest's own counts. Content deactivation requests and user information requests are different things and are not added together. Requests can be removed under Pinterest's own rules, blocked only in one country, or found to be already inactive.

When did Pinterest go public, and how has it used its cash since?

Pinterest listed on the New York Stock Exchange in April 2019 under the ticker PINS, while it was still losing money. In 2025 and 2026 it bought back large numbers of its own shares, in 2026 partly at prices below its IPO price.

  • The prospectus was dated 17 April 2019; Pinterest received $18.24 a share, or $1,368,000,000 before expenses. (Pinterest (IPO prospectus), Apr 2019)
  • In its first report as a listed company, for the first quarter of 2019, Pinterest had revenue of $202 million, up 54%, and a net loss of $41 million. (Pinterest (Q1 2019 letter), May 2019)
  • In the third quarter of 2019 Pinterest had 322 million MAUs, revenue of $280 million, up 47%, and a net loss of $125 million. (Pinterest (Q3 2019 letter), Oct 2019)
  • Pinterest headlined its first-quarter 2026 results with approximately $2 billion of share repurchases. (Pinterest (Q1 2026 results), May 2026)
  • An accelerated share repurchase, after an upfront payment of $1,000.0 million, retired 54,796,613 shares at an average of $18.25, below the IPO price. (Pinterest (10-Q, Q3 2026), Oct 2026)
  • Pinterest also repurchased and retired 28,950,481 shares in the nine months to September 2026, and had $1,948.0 million of its buyback authorisation left. (Pinterest (10-Q, Q3 2026), Oct 2026)

IPO figures come from the final prospectus, which covers only the 75,000,000 shares Pinterest sold, not any shares underwriters could buy later. Buyback figures are from Pinterest's filings; no current share price is given here.

How many people work at Pinterest?

Pinterest almost tripled its full-time staff between 2018 and 2025. In 2026 it cut jobs to move people and money into artificial intelligence work.

  • Restructuring charges came to $65.5 million in the nine months to September 2026, $4.1 million of them in the third quarter, and the restructuring was completed in that quarter. (Pinterest (10-Q, Q3 2026), Oct 2026)
  • Chief executive Bill Ready said in August 2026: "AI is at the heart of our momentum and is a clear accelerant for our business." (Pinterest (Q2 2026 results), Aug 2026)
  • An earlier restructuring in 2023 included "a workforce reduction of approximately 4%" and $126.9 million of restructuring charges. (Pinterest (10-K for 2023), Feb 2024)

Year-end figures are full-time employees from Pinterest's annual filings. The September 2026 figure in the 10-Q is called headcount and may not use the same definition, so the size of the 2026 cut is not calculated here.

Methodology and sources

Figures come from Pinterest's filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (quarterly results releases and shareholder letters, 10-K and 10-Q reports, an 8-K and the 2019 IPO prospectus), its transparency and EU Digital Services Act reports, its newsroom, the European Commission and Australia's eSafety Commissioner, and surveys by Pew Research Center, the Swedish Internet Foundation (Internetstiftelsen) and ACMA. Each figure links to the document that published it, with the date. Company claims are dated and quoted in Pinterest's own words. Third-party estimates of Pinterest's audience, such as ad reach compiled from its ad tools, are not used. Monthly active users, EU average monthly active users and survey shares are kept apart and never added together or compared, and the old US and International regions are not mixed with the current three regions. The fourth-quarter 2026 revenue range is labelled as Pinterest's forecast. Where a figure was calculated from Pinterest's numbers, the text says so. The page is reviewed monthly and the date is shown at the top.
